Mangzhong is the ninth solar term among the twenty-four solar terms and the third solar term in summer, usually occurring between June 5th and 7th each year. The two characters "Mangzhong" mean "wheat with awns is harvested quickly, and rice with awns can be planted". At this point, crops with awns such as barley and wheat have already matured, and it is urgent to harvest them quickly; Late grain, millet, millet and other summer crops are also in the busiest season for sowing. Therefore, Mangzhong, also known as "busy planting", is the busiest season for farming in a year.
