Share:
In the field of industrial insulation and fire resistance, silicate insulation ceramic fiber blanket has become an ideal material for cement kilns, pipeline equipment, building fire prevention and other scenarios due to its advantages of high temperature resistance, low thermal conductivity, and strong flexibility. But many users, after purchasing, are not familiar with the correct usage method, resulting in poor insulation effect and shortened service life. As a company dedicated to the research and service of insulation and refractory materials, Rosewool Insulation Refractory Co.,Ltd.
combines years of practical experience, from pre use preparation, construction operation, precautions to post maintenance, to provide you with detailed disassembly of the correct usage method of silicate insulation ceramic fiber blanket, maximizing product performance.

  •  Before use: Prepare well and lay the foundation for construction
Before using silicate insulation ceramic fiber blanket, basic preparation work should be done to avoid affecting the construction quality due to details omissions. Firstly, site and equipment cleaning: For application scenarios such as cement kilns and pipelines, it is necessary to first remove dust, oil stains, rust, and loose impurities from the surface of the equipment. If there are cracks or depressions on the surface, specialized high-temperature repair materials should be used to fill them flat - uneven surfaces can cause the fiber blanket to not fit tightly, forming heat leakage gaps.
Next is material and tool preparation: Based on the equipment size and insulation requirements, a cutting plan for silicate insulation ceramic fiber blankets is planned in advance. Rosetexwool can provide customized size products. If on-site cutting is required, specialized sharp cutting tools (such as ceramic fiber specific cutting tools) need to be prepared to avoid fuzzing and falling off of the fiber blanket edges due to blunt cutting tools; At the same time, prepare high-temperature resistant adhesive (it is recommended to choose products that match the fiber blanket material, which can be provided by Rosetexwool), high-temperature resistant steel wire mesh (used for reinforcement in high-temperature and high-pressure scenarios), and protective equipment (high-temperature gloves, dust masks, goggles) to ensure construction safety and efficiency.
  •  During construction: operate in different scenarios and control key details
The construction method of silicate insulation ceramic fiber blanket varies slightly in different application scenarios, and needs to be flexibly adjusted according to actual needs. The core is to ensure "tight fit, firm fixation, and no gaps".
  1.  Lining of cement kilns and heating furnaces
This type of scene has high temperatures (often up to 1000-1600 ℃), and it is necessary to focus on insulation and reinforcement. The first step is to use the "staggered laying method": lay the silicate insulation ceramic fiber blanket horizontally along the furnace wall, and the joints between adjacent rows of fiber blankets should be staggered by at least 1/3 of the blanket width to avoid longitudinal through seams; When laying, evenly apply high-temperature resistant adhesive on the back of the fiber blanket, gently press it to make it tightly adhere to the furnace wall, and control the thickness of the adhesive at 1-2mm. Excessive thickness can easily cause cracking at high temperatures. Step 2 reinforcement: Lay high-temperature resistant steel wire mesh on the surface of the fiber blanket and fix it with high-temperature resistant anchors (with a spacing of about 300-500mm). The anchors need to be embedded in the furnace base to ensure that the steel wire mesh is in contact with the fiber blanket and prevent the fiber blanket from bulging or falling off under high temperature.

       2. Pipeline insulation

Pipelines are mostly cylindrical, and attention should be paid to the wrapping and sealing of fiber blankets. Step 1 Cutting: Cut the silicate insulation ceramic fiber blanket into a fan-shaped or rectangular shape according to the diameter of the pipeline (slightly longer than the circumference of the pipeline, with a reserved overlap of 5-10cm); Step 2 winding: Starting from one end of the pipeline, tightly wrap the fiber blanket around the surface of the pipeline, and use high-temperature resistant adhesive to bond the overlap to ensure no gaps; If the diameter of the pipeline is large or in a vibrating environment, a layer of galvanized iron or aluminum sheet can be wrapped after winding to further reinforce and prevent dust erosion.

       3. Building fireproof partition walls and ceilings

This type of scenario requires both fire prevention and sound insulation. During construction, a layer of silicate insulation ceramic fiber blanket should be laid on the wall or ceiling keel, and the joints between the fiber blankets should be filled with fireproof sealant. Then, fireproof boards (such as fireproof gypsum board and fireproof rock wool board) should be covered on the surface to form a composite fireproof structure; If used for filling fire doors, the fiber blanket needs to be cut into blocks that match the size of the door core, tightly filled inside the door core, ensuring no looseness or gaps, and improving the fire rating.
  • After construction: do a good job of maintenance to extend the service life
After the construction of silicate insulation ceramic fiber blanket is completed, it is not a one-time solution, and later maintenance can effectively extend its service life. Firstly, initial maintenance: avoid starting the equipment or high-temperature baking within 24 hours after construction, and allow the high-temperature resistant adhesive to fully cure; When heating up for the first time, it is necessary to slowly heat up (it is recommended to heat up no more than 50 ℃ per hour) to prevent the fiber blanket from cracking due to excessive temperature difference.
Secondly, regular inspections should be conducted: the surface of the fiber blanket should be checked monthly. If any local damage, detachment, or joint cracking is found, it should be repaired promptly with fiber strips and adhesive of the same material; In dusty scenarios such as cement and metallurgy, it is necessary to clean the surface dust of the fiber blanket every quarter to avoid dust accumulation and affect the insulation effect. Rosetexwool suggests that the service life of silicate insulation ceramic fiber blankets can reach 5-8 years in ordinary scenarios, and regular maintenance can be extended to more than 10 years, further reducing the cost of replacement for enterprises.
